Universal Corporation, through its subsidiaries and affiliates, is a leaf tobacco merchant and processor. The largest portion of the company's business involves the procurement, processing, packing, and supply of flue-cured and burley tobacco to manufacturers of consumer tobacco products. Universal does not manufacture cigarettes or other consumer products. Most of the Company's revenues are derived from sales of processed tobacco and from fees and commissions for specific services. We considered many names for our site—in fact we spent our first year and a half under a different name—EkoHub. We liked “Eko” — coming from the Greek word Oikos, related to economy, ecology, and “home” or social concerns.
