Timbercorp was an Australian Agribusiness Investment Management firm, engaged in the establishment, development, marketing and management of primary industry-based projects, the acquisition of land, water rights and infrastructure to support these projects, and the provision of finance to growers in these projects. On June 29 2009, creditors at the company’s second meeting of creditors voted unanimously to wind up all 41 companies in the Timbercorp Group and put them into liquidation.

We considered many names for our site—in fact we spent our first year and a half under a different name—EkoHub. We liked “Eko” — coming from the Greek word Oikos, related to economy, ecology, and “home” or social concerns. From the beginning, we believed the word “Hub” reflected our desire to be at the center of the sustainability area, providing knowledge, harmony, and consensus among the hundreds of experts judging the ESG performance of companies.
