Odyssey Marine Exploration, Inc. is an explorer of deep-ocean shipwrecks. Odyssey discovered the Civil War-era shipwreck of the SS Republic in 2003 and recovered over 50,000 coins and 14,000 artifacts from the site. In May 2007, the company announced the deep-ocean treasure recovery of over 500,000 silver and gold coins from a Colonial era site code-named Black Swan. In February 2009, Odyssey announced the discovery of Balchin's HMS Victory. Odyssey has several shipwreck projects in various stages of development around the world.

We considered many names for our site—in fact we spent our first year and a half under a different name—EkoHub. We liked “Eko” — coming from the Greek word Oikos, related to economy, ecology, and “home” or social concerns. From the beginning, we believed the word “Hub” reflected our desire to be at the center of the sustainability area, providing knowledge, harmony, and consensus among the hundreds of experts judging the ESG performance of companies.
