Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, commercially branded “Norwegian,” is a public low-cost airline listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. The company is the second largest airline in Scandinavia, and has a route portfolio that stretches across Europe into North Africa and the Middle East. With more than 9.1 million passengers in 2008, Norwegian is the 4th largest low-cost airline in Europe. The turnover in 2008 was in excess of NOK 6.2 billion. By year end 2008, Norwegian operated 40 aircraft on 170 routes to 87 destinations and employed approximately 1,500 people.

We considered many names for our site—in fact we spent our first year and a half under a different name—EkoHub. We liked “Eko” — coming from the Greek word Oikos, related to economy, ecology, and “home” or social concerns. From the beginning, we believed the word “Hub” reflected our desire to be at the center of the sustainability area, providing knowledge, harmony, and consensus among the hundreds of experts judging the ESG performance of companies.
