Hydro-Qu?bec generates, transmits, and distributes electricity for residential and farm, commercial and institutional, industrial, and other customers in Canada. The company operates in four segments: Generation, Transmission, Distribution, and Construction. The Generation segment develops and operates generating facilities; and sells electricity on external markets, as well as engages in energy trading. This segment's generating fleet comprises 59 hydroelectric and 2 thermal generating stations with an installed capacity of 35.7 gigawatt; and 26 reservoirs with a combined storage capacity of 175 terawatthour, as well as 664 dams and 97 control structures. The Company also supplies nine municipal systems, one regional cooperative, and fifteen electric utilities in the northeastern United States, Ontario, and New Brunswick. All of Hydro-Quebec's stock is owned by the Quebec Government.
