In the early days of my career, when I would tell people I worked for an electronics distributor, their eyes would light up with fascination. The era of personal electronics was just dawning and the public was mesmerized. Once I clarified that I worked primarily with industrial manufacturers, their eyes would instantly glaze over. Unistream was launched in 2001, the same year Avnet Israel was established. More than 700 teens across Israel are participating in a program called “Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.” The aim of the program is to inspire and empower these young adults and to show them they too have a path toward business and social leadership. There are 12 Unistream centers spread throughout the country.

Employees at Avnet’s Global Solutions Center in Chandler, Ariz., raised more than $26,000 to help the Salvation Army’s Christmas Angel program, an effort that supports more than 50,000 people in the Phoenix metro area. The employee-led effort dates back to 2007 and has resulted in $282,000 in donations.
