Forest Stewardship Council
The Forest Stewardship Council mission is to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the world's forests. Over the past 20 years, FSC has earned a reputation as the most rigorous, credible forest certification system. Independent FSC-accredited Certification Bodies ("certifiers") verify that all FSC-certified forests conform to the requirements contained within an FSC forest management standard. The FSC system includes two different types of certificates: Forest Management and Chain of Custody. Chain-of-Custody certification applies to manufacturers, processors and traders of FSC-certified forest products. It ensures the validity of claims associated with all FSC-certified material and products throughout the production chain.
