Daimaru is a leading department store group in Japan’s Kansai region. The company was founded in 1920 and employs approximately 3,800 associates. The company’s subsidiary, Daimaru Peacock, operates 37 supermarkets in the Greater Tokyo Area and 27 in the Kansai region. The company’s stores carry a range of products, from boxed meals to apparel. Daimaru merged with Matsuzakaya Holdings Co. in 2007 to form a joint holding company, J. Front Retailing Co.
