In response to the Macau Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) calling on the Macao community to help alleviate damage throughout the city caused by Typhoon Mangkhut, 60 volunteers from Sands China Ltd.’s (SCL) Sands Cares Ambassador program helped clean up Hac Sa beach, where they disposed of branches, debris, and helped shovel displaced sand back onto the beach.

Annie Lam has been with Sands China Ltd (SCL) for almost 13 years, joining the company in 2005. Lam started with the company as a Guest Service Supervisor at Sands Macao, managing hotel operations and then two years later, transferred to the Community Affairs department, implementing the company’s CSR program in Macao.

More than 30 Sands China Care Ambassadors volunteered at Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop to distribute 350 food hampers to disadvantaged families days before Chinese New Year. Sands China Care Ambassadors has more than 1,600 volunteers from across all Sands China Ltd. properties, contributing close to 12,000 hours of voluntary community service in more than 50 activities in 2017.

In the aftermath of recent typhoons, Sands China Ltd. contributed toward various disaster relief efforts aimed at Team Members and the wider community with transportation, technical and professional support, SME support, and long-term assistance. Sands China pledged to donate $8.4 million – $3.7 million from Sands China and a $4.7 million contribution from the Adelson Family Foundation – to assist with longer term relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts in Macao.

The Venetian Macao has achieved its third ISO certification by the International Organization for Standardization. This particular designation is for the property’s food safety management system – a first for an integrated resort or hotel in Macao. The scope of the certification covers receiving, storage, cooking, cooling and packaging of chilled food at the property's central kitchen, which serves Sands China Ltd. food and beverage operations.
