Lihir Gold Limited (LGL) is a global gold producer with operations in Papua New Guinea, Australia and West Africa. The company operates one of the world’s largest gold mines and processing facilities on the island of Lihir. Through its 2008 merger with Equigold NL, LGL now has operations at Mount Rawdon in Queensland and in Côte d’Ivoire in West Africa. Combined from its four operations, LGL has approximately 25 million ounces in reserves. The company is also actively exploring in Côte d’Ivoire. In 2008 LGL produced 882,000 ounces of gold.
Lihir Gold Ltd. merged with Newcrest Mining at the end of August 2010.
