The Top Diversity Employers are selected by a comprehensive study of each employer’s unique diversity plan and policies to include human capital philosophy, minority recruitment, hiring, retention, advancement opportunities, number of minorities employed, number of minorities in upper-level management, related statistics, internship programs, benefits, salaries, mentoring, CEO commitment, training and awareness, percentage of revenues dedicated to diversity hiring, corporate communications, and all other forms of diversity outreach. Top employers demonstrate consistent ability to provide equal access, opportunities for employment, and advancement without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, disability, public assistance status, veteran status, or sexual orientation. The employer’s advocacy and affirmative action plans are reviewed and include the use of recruiting and search processes to enhance participation of racial minorities, women, persons with disabilities, and veterans. Also considered is the employer’s creation of an environment free from racism, sexism, forms of prejudice, intolerance or harassment. This includes proven employment and advancement of varying racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as varying sexual orientations, and people with disabilities.
