The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) AEI is a private, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution dedicated to research and education on issues of government, politics, economics and social welfare. The Critical Threats Project is an initiative of the American Enterprise Institute dedicated to tracking and analyzing key and emerging national security threats to the United States in order to inform the policy debate. Directed by AEI resident scholar Frederick W. Kagan, the project primarily focuses on the threats posed by Iran and al Qaeda and associated movements in Pakistan and the Gulf of Aden. The Critical Threats Project website offers the Global Business in Iran database, consisting of recent business projects inside Iran.
