Sberbank is a Russian credit institution established in 1841 with a branch network of 17 regional head offices and more than 19,490 retail outlets. The company employs about 265,100 people and operates subsidiary banks in Kazakhstan and the Ukraine. Sberbank is the biggest taker of deposits in the country and the key lender to the national economy. As of 1 June 2009, Sberbank accounted for more than 50% of retail deposits and had a 31% share in Russian loan market.
