NV Energy is a US electric and gas utility company, serving Nevada and northeastern California. Nevada Power, Sierra Pacific Power and Sierra Pacific Resources merged in July 1999 to create NV Energy. The company’s service area covers 54,500 square miles in Nevada and provides electricity to 2.4 million customers throughout Nevada and in northeastern California as well as a state tourist population exceeding 40 million annually. Communities served include Las Vegas, Reno-Sparks, Henderson, Elko and South Lake Tahoe. NV Energy also provides natural gas to more than 145,000 citizens in the Reno-Sparks area.
