Maruti Suzuki India Limited, formerly Maruti Udyog Limited, a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, is India's largest passenger car company, accounting for over 50 per cent of the domestic car market. The company offers 13 brands and over 150 variants, such as the Maruti 800, the hatchback Ritz, A star, Swift, DZire, SX4 sedan and the Grand Vitara. Since its inception, Maruti has produced and sold over 7.5 million vehicles in India and exported over 500,000 units to Europe and other countries. The company’s turnover for the fiscal year 2008-09 was reported to be Rs. 203,583 Million with after-tax profits of Rs. 12,187 Million.
